Craig McMichael for OSB

Craig McMichael
Craig graduated from Onsted High School in 2004. It was there that he met his wife Leeann who graduated in 2005. He has two kids, Oliver, 12 and Vivian 5. Both attend Onsted Schools. Craig is the lead Pastor of Gateway Community Church in Onsted and has been on staff since 2015. Since 2021 he has substitute taught, primarily at Onsted Schools in all buildings when available. His wife Leeann has been teaching in public education for 15 years and taught 10 years at Onsted. This has given Craig a unique perspective into how public education functions. He has served on the board of a large Christian camp in Michigan and is currently serving on the Onsted Community Scholarship Foundation board since 2021. His hobbies include, hunting, fishing, playing piano, drumming, and exercising. He enjoys traveling with Leeann when they can, playing video games and bass fishing with Oliver, and eating ice cream with Vivian.
My Mission
As a candidate running for the Onsted Schools Board of Education I am committed to upholding traditional American values in our school. I believe that education should prioritize the building of strong moral character, critical thinking, and relevant life skills in every student. If elected, I will prioritize protecting our students from harmful ideologies that seek to undermine our nation’s founding principles. Educators that teach distracted by the burden of low compensation are unhappy with their situation, and this can greatly lower the morale in the district. I will prioritize supporting our teachers and support staff, and will work to ensure that they are generously compensated.
